The fabric outline is offset by an allowance computed from the satin width, fabric and your placement care, not a fixed 1.5 mm. Exported as SVG in real millimetres and DXF.

What you download

One shape in, a complete kit out.

  • Machine file in PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX or PEC with three colour stops and tie stitches.
  • Cut file as SVG (Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, CanvasWorkspace) and DXF (laser, LightBurn), plus a combined placement-and-cut SVG for checking.
  • 1:1 template on A4 or Letter with a 100 mm scale bar for scissors and alignment.
  • Report with the satin width, allowance, pass probability per piece and the comparison across satin widths.

The allowance is the gap between the placement line and the cut line. Too small and the raw edge peeks out from under the satin; too big and fabric shows past it.

The prediction is a model, not a promise.

The error budget comes from published sources: laser kerf measurements, Hatch and Wilcom pull-compensation defaults, and Brother PE-Design's 1.0 mm standard cutting allowance. The satin geometry was checked against the open-source Ink/Stitch engine on ten shapes. We have not yet stitched every design on every machine, which is why the studio asks you to report how your piece came out. Those reports tighten the constants over time.

What is an appliqué embroidery file?

An appliqué design has three stitch layers: a placement run that shows where the fabric goes, a tack-down that fixes the fabric to the garment, and a satin border that covers the raw edge. The fabric piece has to be cut slightly larger than the placement line so the satin can catch it. Appliqué Maker generates all three layers and the matching cut file from one shape.

Which embroidery machines are supported?

PES (Brother, Baby Lock, Bernina), DST (Tajima, Ricoma and most commercial machines), JEF (Janome, Elna), EXP (Melco, Bernina), VP3 (Husqvarna Viking, Pfaff) and XXX (Singer). The cut file is an SVG in real millimetres for Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio or Brother CanvasWorkspace, plus a DXF for laser cutters, or a printable 1:1 template for scissors.

How is the success chance calculated?

For every satin column the tool measures how far its inner end sits inside the fabric, then runs 300 Monte Carlo trials with published error budgets for cutting, hand placement, tack-down shift and satin pull-in. A trial counts as clean when 99 % of the edge is caught and no fabric shows past the satin. How the prediction works.

Is my artwork uploaded?

No. Parsing, analysis and previews run in your browser. Pro downloads send only the traced outline (a list of points) to our server to build the files, and nothing is stored unless you save a project.

Can I use it without an embroidery machine?

Yes. The free analysis, previews and the printable template work for anyone. Machine files and cut files are part of Pro.

Does it work with PNG or JPG?

Yes. Image import removes the background, thresholds the shape and can split a multi-colour image into separate fabric pieces. SVG gives the cleanest edges, so use it when you have one.
