Honest note
The error budget comes from published sources: laser kerf measurements, Hatch and Wilcom pull-compensation defaults, and Brother PE-Design's 1.0 mm standard cutting allowance. The satin geometry was checked against the open-source Ink/Stitch engine on ten shapes. We have not yet stitched every design on every machine, which is why the studio asks you to report how your piece came out. Those reports tighten the constants over time.

An appliqué design has three stitch layers: a placement run that shows where the fabric goes, a tack-down that fixes the fabric to the garment, and a satin border that covers the raw edge. The fabric piece has to be cut slightly larger than the placement line so the satin can catch it. Appliqué Maker generates all three layers and the matching cut file from one shape.
PES (Brother, Baby Lock, Bernina), DST (Tajima, Ricoma and most commercial machines), JEF (Janome, Elna), EXP (Melco, Bernina), VP3 (Husqvarna Viking, Pfaff) and XXX (Singer). The cut file is an SVG in real millimetres for Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio or Brother CanvasWorkspace, plus a DXF for laser cutters, or a printable 1:1 template for scissors.
For every satin column the tool measures how far its inner end sits inside the fabric, then runs 300 Monte Carlo trials with published error budgets for cutting, hand placement, tack-down shift and satin pull-in. A trial counts as clean when 99 % of the edge is caught and no fabric shows past the satin. How the prediction works.
